Hand Brake is stiff and if I pull it up too much, then it becomes a real pain to put back down. One time it got stuck and was pretty much impossible to lower, it finally gave after putting whole body weight on it. I think there is a problem with it.

@yusufahmed possibly a rusted or stuck brake cable. Check the cable and see where it connects to the rear pads. It may not release from there. Check on here for a full description and the repair on the parking brake components.
